2025 Medicare Plans in Bedford, TX
Medicare is an American federal health insurance program administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and is limited to qualified U.S. citizens and legal residents.
Medicare was created in 1965 for people ages 65 and over, regardless of income, medical history, or health status. The program was expanded in 1972 to cover certain people under age 65 who have long-term disability. Today, Medicare plays a key role in providing health and financial security to 60 million older people and younger people with disabilities. The program helps to pay for many medical care services, including hospitalizations, physician visits, prescription drugs, preventive services, skilled nursing facilities, home health care, and hospice care.
Most people ages 65 and over are entitled to Medicare Part A if they or their spouse are eligible for Social Security payments, and do not have to pay a premium for Part A if they paid payroll taxes for 10 or more years. People under age 65 who receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) payments generally become eligible for Medicare after a two-year waiting period, while those diagnosed with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) become eligible for Medicare with no waiting period.
Team Up with the Best Medicare Insurance Agent
Licensed Medicare insurance agents, who may or may not be brokers, can assist in dealing with the sometimes-overwhelming complexity of Medicare. A certified Texas health insurance agent for Medicare can assist a client in finding coverage through private insurance companies affiliated with Medicare. Private insurance companies may offer a variety of plans, such as:
- Medicare Advantage Plans
- Medicare Supplement Plans
- Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plans
Ashford Insurance agents are licensed in the state of Texas and sell insurance plans here. CMS has strict guidelines, requiring certified Medicare health insurance agents to be examined every year for their mastery of Original Medicare and the contents of the various plans they are selling, as well as criteria for Medicare eligibility. Medicare insurance agents, whether independent or not, are also required to thoroughly understand the marketing guidelines of Medicare.
Why should I use a Medicare insurance agent to enroll in Medicare?
The federal Medicare program has a lot of moving parts. It can be hard to learn all the ins and outs of the program, even for those of us who work with Medicare plans every day! We’d bet that you have other important (or just more fun) things to do with your time. An insurance agent takes the hassle out of enrolling. We learn about each of the Medicare options and stay up to date on current plans so that we can help you narrow down which ones might be best for you. Sure, you should also understand how Medicare works, but you shouldn’t have to know every tiny detail as we do.
In addition, a Medicare insurance advisor is going to remind you about important enrollment times. Do you have a Medicare Advantage or Part D plan? If so, you better remember to review your plan every fall during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP). Failure to do so could cost you a lot of money when it comes to your healthcare expenses. At Ashford Insurance, we’ll remind you about important enrolment dates and deadlines.
We’ll also reach out to you if we find opportunities to save you money. This might be during AEP, but there are also other times of the year you might be able to switch plans and save on premiums. Unless you want to be shopping for plans throughout the year, work with a Medicare agency.
