Medicare Supplement Insurance Made Easy

Medicare Supplement Insurance

Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) is a type of private health insurance that helps pay for some of the out-of-pocket costs of Original Medicare, such as copays, coinsurance, and deductibles.

How does Medigap work?

If you have Medigap, you still have Original Medicare. You will still pay your Medicare Part B premium, and you will still use Original Medicare to get your covered services. Medigap will then pay some or all of your out-of-pocket costs.

What are the benefits of Medigap?

Medigap can help you pay for some of the following out-of-pocket costs of Original Medicare:

  • Copayments
  • Coinsurance
  • Deductibles
  • Emergency care when you travel outside the United States
  • Foreign travel emergency medical assistance
  • Part A hospital costs after your lifetime reserve days are used up
  • Part A skilled nursing facility care costs after your 100-day benefit period is used up
  • Part B excess charges

What are the different Medigap plans?

There are 10 standardized Medigap plans, each with a different letter assigned to it. All Medigap plans offer the same basic benefits, but they may have different costs and coverage for optional benefits.

How do I choose the right Medigap plan for me?

The best way to choose the right Medigap plan for you is to compare the plans available in your area and consider your individual needs and budget. Here are some factors to keep in mind when choosing a Medigap plan:

  • Your health needs: If you have a lot of health care needs, you may want to consider a plan with more coverage.
  • Your budget: Medigap plans can vary in cost, so it’s important to find a plan that fits your budget.
  • Your preferences: Some people prefer to have more control over their health care, while others prefer the convenience of a managed care plan.

Where can I get more information about Medigap?

You can get more information about Medigap by visiting the official Medicare website or by talking to an Ashford Insurance agent.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind about Medigap:

  • Medigap does not cover prescription drug costs. You will need to purchase a separate Medicare Part D prescription drug plan to cover these costs.
  • Medigap does not require you to go to network doctors. You can see any doctor who accepts Medicare.
  • Medigap policies are guaranteed renewable for life, as long as premiums are paid on time and there has been no material misrepresentation on the application.
