Medicare Part B is funded by a premium that you pay each month. You may also have to pay a deductible and coinsurance for some services.
Medicare Part B covers a wide range of services, including:
- Doctor visits
- Outpatient care
- Lab tests
- X-rays
- Preventive services
- Durable medical equipment
- Some mental health services
Medicare Part B does not cover everything. For example, it does not cover prescription drugs or long-term care.
If you are eligible for Medicare Part B, you can enroll in it when you turn 65 or when you become disabled. You can also enroll in Part B if you have lost your job and your health insurance.
