Fort Worth Motorcycle Insurance
Ashford Insurance helps motorcycle owners in Fort Worth and nearby Grapevine review coverage options from its Hurst, Texas office. Your needs can depend on the bike, how and where you ride, who rides it, and the insurer’s policy terms. This is general information, not a promise that a particular claim will be covered. Review the actual policy and ask the insurer about exclusions before you ride.
Texas liability requirements
Texas requires motorcycle drivers to show financial responsibility for accidents they may cause. The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) lists minimum liability limits of $30,000 for each injured person, $60,000 per accident, and $25,000 for property damage per accident, often called 30/60/25. Liability coverage is for injury or property damage you cause to others; it does not automatically pay to repair your motorcycle or cover your own injuries. Consider asking an agent to explain the limits that fit your circumstances and the difference between liability and optional coverages.
Review protection for your bike and riders
Ask whether collision coverage can pay for damage to your motorcycle after a crash and whether comprehensive coverage applies to non-collision losses such as theft or fire. Confirm deductibles, coverage limits, accessories or custom equipment, passenger-related terms, and how the policy treats occasional or regular riders. Do not assume a car policy covers a motorcycle, or that motorcycle coverage automatically applies to dirt bikes, track use, racing, or off-road riding. Tell the insurer how the bike is used and get an answer specific to your policy.
TDI also notes that mopeds and motor-driven cycles require the same amount of liability insurance as motorcycles. It distinguishes ATVs, dirt bikes, mini-bikes, and golf carts that are not permitted on public roads from vehicles subject to those road requirements. Rules and coverage can depend on the vehicle and its use, so verify before operating it on public roads.
