What Is Medicare Flower Mound Supplement Insurance?

Medicare supplemental insurance plans (sometimes referred to as Medigap coverage) are add-on coverages that you can combine with your Original Medicare coverage to pay for some of the things that Part A and Part B do not. There are 10 Medicare supplemental insurance options, but not everyone can purchase every plan type.

Unlike Medicare Advantage benefits, Medigap plan inclusions are standardized across companies. This means that no matter which company you purchase your Medigap coverage from, Plan A will always include the same benefits, as will other Medicare supplemental plan options. However, not every insurance company offers each Medicare supplemental plan option.

There are 10 standardized Medigap policies, each labeled with a letter (A, B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M, and N) that provide different levels of coverage. Here is a summary of what each Medigap policy covers:

  1. Medigap Plan A: Covers basic benefits including Medicare Part A coinsurance and hospital costs, Medicare Part B coinsurance or copayment, and the first three pints of blood.

  2. Medigap Plan B: Covers basic benefits plus the Medicare Part A deductible.

  3. Medigap Plan C: Covers basic benefits plus skilled nursing facility care, Medicare Part B deductible, and emergency medical care outside the US.

  4. Medigap Plan D: Covers basic benefits plus skilled nursing facility care, Medicare Part B coinsurance or copayment, and emergency medical care outside the US.

  5. Medigap Plan F: Covers basic benefits plus Medicare Part B deductible, Medicare Part B excess charges, skilled nursing facility care, emergency medical care outside the US, and 100% of Medicare Part B coinsurance or copayment.

  6. Medigap Plan G: Covers basic benefits plus Medicare Part B excess charges, skilled nursing facility care, emergency medical care outside the US, and 100% of Medicare Part B coinsurance or copayment.

  7. Medigap Plan K: Covers basic benefits plus 50% of Medicare Part A coinsurance or copayment, 50% of Medicare Part B coinsurance or copayment, and the first three pints of blood.

  8. Medigap Plan L: Covers basic benefits plus 75% of Medicare Part A coinsurance or copayment, 75% of Medicare Part B coinsurance or copayment, and the first three pints of blood.

  9. Medigap Plan M: Covers basic benefits plus 50% of Medicare Part A deductible, Medicare Part B coinsurance or copayment, and emergency medical care outside the US.

  10. Medigap Plan N: Covers basic benefits plus Medicare Part A coinsurance and hospital costs (up to an additional 365 days after Medicare benefits are used up), Medicare Part B coinsurance or copayment (except for copayments of up to $20 for some office visits and up to $50 for emergency room visits that don’t result in inpatient admission), and emergency medical care outside the US.

It’s important to note that not all Medigap policies are available in all states and that the costs of each plan can vary depending on the insurance company that offers it. It’s important to compare costs and coverage carefully when selecting a Medigap policy.
