Part D is funded by a monthly premium that you pay. You may also have to pay a deductible and coinsurance for some drugs.
Medicare Part D covers a wide range of prescription drugs, including brand-name and generic drugs. It also covers some preventive drugs, such as vaccines.
If you are eligible for Medicare Part D, you can enroll in it through a private plan or through a Medicare Advantage plan. You can also enroll in Part D online at www.medicare.gov.
To enroll in a private Part D plan, you can contact the plan directly or you can find a plan through the Medicare website. To enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan, you must first enroll in Medicare Part A and Part B. You can then enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan that includes Part D coverage.
