What do the 2024 Texas Medicare Supplements Offer?

Ashford Insurance offers a variety of Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Insurance plans to meet your unique needs at prices among the lowest in Texas. These plans save you money by covering costs that Medicare doesn’t. You can even keep the doctors and hospitals you’ve come to know and trust if they accept Medicare. Plus, if you apply during your Initial Enrollment Period, your acceptance in the plan of your choice is guaranteed, regardless of your health.

What Medicare Supplement Insurance Provides

Medicare covers some, but not all, medical costs. That’s why a good option is to purchase Medicare Supplement insurance. Private insurance companies provide this coverage, like Medical Mutual, to pay for healthcare costs that Medicare does not cover, such as:

  • Deductibles
  • Copayments
  • Coinsurance
  • Extended hospital stays
  • Care received while traveling outside the United States

Medicare Supplement is also known as Medigap. Have you ever wondered why? Beyond Original Medicare, Medigap fills some gaps between what your Parts A and B pay, and the CMS-approved charges for those services.

In short, Medicare Supplement helps you to cover the cost that Original Medicare leaves you to pay out-of-pocket. But What are the Best Medicare Supplement Plans?

There are up to 10 standardized Medicare Supplement plans available for you. These include Plans A, B, C, D, High deductible F, G, K, L, M, and N. All of these plans serve to make your healthcare journey easier and more affordable.

To get a Medicare Supplement plan, you should already be enrolled in Original Medicare Parts A and B. All your Medigap plans will cover:

  • 100% of Original Medicare coinsurance and hospital bills up to one year after you have used up your Medicare benefits
  • Medicare Part A hospice care copayment or coinsurance (All plans except K and L cover 100% of the cost)
  • Medicare Part B coinsurance or copayment. (All the plans except K and L cover 100% of the cost)
  • First three pints of blood in a medical emergency (All plans except K and L cover 100% of the cost)

Usually, Plan L pays 50%, and Plan K pays for 75% of these costs. Other benefits of Medigap include skilled nursing facility coinsurance, foreign travel emergency, and Plan A deductible.

Plan G will be the plan with the highest number of enrollments. This is because it offers the most encompassing benefits. In addition to the benefits listed earlier, Plan G will cover your Parts A and B deductibles and copayments, and Part B excess charges. Plan G will also pay for up to 80% of your foreign travel emergency.

Very close to Plan G, is Plan N. Plan G is the second supplemental plan that offers the most benefits. There are only a few differences in the benefits both plans offer. Plan N does not cover your Original Medicare Part B excesses. Also, there are copayments such as $50 for emergency care and $20 for doctor’s visits. However, Plan N is a bit cheaper than Plan G, which is how it makes up for the less coverage.

Plan F is still no longer available for new subscribers. If you already have a Plan F, then you can continue using it. This is not bad news because Plan G offers the same coverage as Plan F. The only difference is that Plan F pays for your Part B deductibles.

Make sure you choose the best Medigap plan for you after careful consideration. We would love to help with your Medicare journey. So, feel free to call or mail us for any inquiries about Medicare Supplement Plans.
