How to Use SocialSecurity.gov

SocialSecurity.gov (or ssa.gov ) is the official online home of the U.S. Social Security Administration. The majority of the management of your retirement, disability, and government health benefits can be done right on the SocialSecurity.gov website. SocialSecurity.gov contains a plethora of information, so it can give beneficiaries a better idea of what they can qualify for, how to apply for those benefits, and which benefits they will receive.

On the Social Security website, beneficiaries can get a Social Security card, apply online for retirement or disability benefits, and apply online for Medicare.You may check out your Social Security statements online. Bills, and appeals can also be managed through their website online system, which can be more convenient than going into a local Social Security Administration (SSA) office.

It is possible, you may need to visit an SSA office to resolve an issue you can’t figure out on SocialSecurity.gov’s website. Just check the Office Locator to find a local SSA office nearest you. Lastly, speed things up by printing and filling out the necessary forms in the Get a Form section on SocialSecurity.gov. Also remember that once you file an application, you can then check your application status online wherever and whenever you want.
